Wonderful World of Timotheus "Pharaoh" Gordon

Tales and opinions of an autistic poet from Chi-Town, who will be in ATL for 3 yrs pursuing MFA in Writing @ SCAD-Atlanta (Note: Any comments and critiques are welcomed)

Blog will be mostly focused on God, Social Justice, Autism Awareness, Sports (especially Football and the Chicago Bears), Music/Art/Poetry/Spoken Word, and experiences in ATL.

You could also see pictures from 2012 WNFAS @ the Timotheus “Pharaoh” Gordon like page on Facebook and yesterday’s sneak preview.

Good afternoon everyone!! Lovely day in the ATL as usual.

This past Sunday, I went to the 2012 Atlanta Walk Now for Autism Speaks in Atlantic Station. I enjoyed walking with two fellow Aspies, taking pics of the protest and listening to their stances on how the autistic adults (namely those who are verbal and able to work) are misrepresented in the media/non-profits. I also loved interacting with the people (and kids) with autism and their families, and some (like the family below; NOTE: at least two people in that family are autistic) emphasized autism as being a wonderful gift instead of a curse.

It’s so many things I could talk about with the walk that I’ll run out of time. Thus I suggest that you all would go to my fan page , look at the photos, and draw your own conclusions (the hyperlinks are at the top of the page). ;)

But if I could take one thing from WNFAS, I must discuss the t-shirt designs. Each t-shirt speaks on different perspectives on autism awareness and treatment. For instance, in the first picture, the shirt’s hidden message is: we’ll love and nurture our niece/sister/cousin/daughter, autistic or not.   Or, you have a t-shirt that really pushes for a cure, such as the following one:

That’s all I have for now. Got to head off to class before I get docked for tardiness. LOL. Enjoy your evening and remember to spread autism awareness & acceptance to many places as you can.

It’s the truth! lol. I tend to wither under pressure when I try to join in on conversations in huge crowds. But give me a mic and some stanzas, then I’ll be just fine.
